Birding Videos

I've amassed quite a catalog of birding videos, but it will take some time before I have them all uploaded and described and properly linked.  Several of them can be found via my blog.   Others can be found on my Vimeo account (kinda like YouTube).

As I get them done, new links will appear on the left and you can access them directly from this page.  Until I catalog them, I am going to try to store them in folders on the server according to the broad category of birds.  To see a list of videos in a group, choose the group name:

• Finches
• Flycatchers
• Hummers
• Marshbirds
• Owls
• Perching
• Raptors
• Shorebirds
• Waders
• Warblers
• Wildlife
• Woodpeckers

Video files are very large.  Often they will take several minutes to download and run on your computer.   I could convert them to a different format, or use a service like YouTube or BirdCinema to share them, but they lose resolution with each conversion.  So I try to leave them in as close to their native format as possible.  Most of them are in .mpg or .wmv format.  For some reason, even though Quicktime should be able to play mpg files, it doesn't work if you are using Quicktime as your video viewer.  You can either set your browser to use Windows Media Viewer as your default program for .mpg files, or you can download the file and then open it with Windows Media Viewer.  Please do let me know if you've tried these things and you still can't view the files.  I do want to provide the best quality possible, but I also want folks to be able to see them--doesn't do any good for them to just sit on the server!
